LOVIN’ LESLIEVILLE

new_sewing_studio_1Hey Toronto!  Big news – starting Nov 18th, you’ll be able to come get crafty with us at our new location in the amazing artist loft space at 50 Carroll!!  That’s right, we’re opening a sweet-as-pie studio in Leslieville and it’s gonna be gravy, baby!   I’m so excited (and nervous – omg, we’re expanding!) about our cute new space.   We’re going to be offering our beginner classes (Sewing Fundamentals, Fundmentals 2 and Basic Mending and Alterations) for 2013, with new Quilting classes and workshops starting in the new year.   Our new space has amazingly high ceilings and huge windows, plus really beautiful antique wrought iron doors… perfect for sewing in.  If you’ve already been to our Bloordale location and you’re wondering how the studios will compare, we’ll be using the same trusty Janome 625E machines and Rowenta irons. We will have a selection of fabric/notions for student projects available for sale as well.

And as a special offer until the end of November, we’re going to be offering students 25% off all of our Leslieville classes*!  Just use the promo code LESLIEVILLE when you register…

So what is our new building like?  Well, we’re fortunate to have Groovy neighbours and amazing coffee which all equal super good vibes in the building.  If you like vintage hunting, you’ll be able to pick up some antique Gargoyles from our neighbours in the basement after class…. Oh yeah, and while you’re down there… remember to check out the Cherry Pump room! cherry_pump_leslieville

That’s right!  50 Carroll used to be an actual pie factory long ago.  You can see the ‘Cherry Pumps’ and the ‘Orange Convey’ fittings in the electrical room downstairs. (No, not THESE Cherry Pumps!   This kind…)  I love imagining all those Cherry Pies being made long ago in our awesome new building…  Imagine the satisfaction if you were the person who got to pull on the ‘Cherry Pump’?   Pure delight.

And, of course in case anyone was wondering – we obviously painted the walls seafoam. Feels like home already…   Below are the pre and post seafoam-paint pics – what do you think?

seafoam_studioI’m so excited to meet the rest of our new neighbours at 50 Carroll and to keep spreading the crafty love with our awesome East End students!   I hope to bring you lots of photos, updates and stories about our wonderful new neighbours and space – and I hope we’ll see you at our new studio sometime in the future too!

*On all posted classes until February
