Sarita Malan

My name is Sarita, and I started sewing and crafting from a very young age after huge inspiration from my Mum, who often made her own, as well as mine and my sister’s clothes.  She made halloween costumes, and dozens, if not hundreds of ballet and dance recital costumes. In highschool, I started making my own clothes and cosplaying, laying the foundation for going into the Fashion Design program at Ryerson University.  I keep myself really busy teaching classes, designing for PlayDead Cult, working as a night cashier at the Annex Metro, and running a small T Shirt company that tours conventions.   I’m influenced by B Movies, Pulp Sci-Fi novels and modern Japanese Art and Culture.  I have a simple philosophy of fashion and design: The more skulls the better!
