Sewing for the Home

Are your Pinterest boards overflowing with home decor ideas? Are your favourite sewing projects the quick, easy ones?  Are you always thinking about cute, stylish projects that you could make to spice up your home? Apply and expand on your FUNdamentals skills in in this easy and fun four week class!

You will complete an adorable and functional fabric basket to help organize your fat quarters (or whatever else your heart desires), a stylish bed pillow case, and a quilted table runner.

Sewing For the Home is 2 hours long and runs for 4 weeks.

Class One: Fabric Baskets

This fabric basket is super easy to make and will help keep your home not only organized but also adorable.

Fabric Basket Supplies: 

  • 1/2 yard quilting cotton or canvas for exterior and handles,
  • fat 1/4 quilting cotton lining (directional fabrics require a 1/2 yard)
  • fat 1/4 or 1/2 yard of heavy weight fusible interfacing, or fusible fleece
  • matching polyester thread
  • ***(if you do not want handles for the bin you can use a fat 1/4 for the exterior)

Class Two: Bed Pillowcase

Learn how to make a custom pillow for your bed with contrasting cuff and optional accent band. Think of all the cute fabric combinations you could wake up to every day!

(measurements are for one pillowcase, double yardages to make a set)

  • 3/4 yard quilting cotton for main fabric 
  • 1/2 yard quilting cotton for cuff
  • 1/8 yard quilting cotton for accent (optional)
    • *** fabric is generally only sold in 1/4yds or more, you can also use fabric scaps for accent
  • matching polyester thread

Class Three & Four: Quilted Table Runner

Class up you next dinner party with a hand made quilted table runner. Take pictures while you are sewing it as proof, you friends will not believe you made this gorgeous piece yourself.

Table Runner Supplies: 

  • assorted quilting cottons totalling 1 yard for top strips (pre cut kits are available for purchase at the studio)
  • 1 yard of quilting cotton for back and binding
  • 1/2 yard of cotton quilt batting (must equal 15×60″ in total, fat 1/4’s available at the studio)
  • matching polyester thread

*Optional Project Alternative: Quilted Placemats (same materials apply)

***Class registration fees are non-refundable. If you need to cancel you class, you can use your credit towards a different class date or towards materials from our retail space. There is a $35~ fee for classes cancelled or changed with less than 7 days notice from your registered start date.
