You know you’ve got the look, but how about your couch? What better way to spruce up your living room than with a designer “fabric art” pillow! Learn some basic techniques for creating fun and fabulous motifs with fabric, and go home with some fun new pillows to make your couch happy again!
In this series of four classes, you will create your own unique pillow cover(s). The first three classes focus on embellishment, and class four teaches you how to construct your pillow cover. A basic knowledge of sewing is recommended but not needed for these classes.

Class One – pillow design – appliqué motifs. Appliqué is French for “ridiculously cute designs, made from fabric!” Learn how to turn your own illustrations or cartoons into cute fabric motifs or choose from our “owl” or “flower” patterns.
Class Two – pillow design – fabric collage. Similar to appliqué, but more freeform, fabric collaging is as fun as it sounds! Use images from nature as your colour palette inspiration. Bring your favourite odds and ends from your fabric stash and get “scrap happy”, making your very own unique piece of art with fabric and thread.
Class Three – pillow design – quilted patchwork. Combine various printed and solid colour fabrics and learn the basics of colour theory and patchwork quilting.
Class Four – pillow cover construction / finishing. Learn how to turn your fabric art masterpiece(s) into a functional pillow cover with an envelope closure
Techniques: colour theory, using fusible web, machine satin stitch, free motion stitching, fabric piecing, patchwork, quilting.
Supplies: Our fabric stash is enormous, but if you’d like to clean out your closet, feel free to bring your own! You will need to bring your own pillow form to the last class.
