Can’t decide between screenprinting and sewing for the home? Now you can do both! This course combines basic screenprinting skills with a simple and fun sewing project. Learn how to print fabric with your very own designs, then create a functional basket with the fabric you’ve printed.
Class One: Intro to screenprinting
Demonstration of the printing process including screen preparation, ink mixing, printing, and clean-up. Practice printing with the demo screen. Learn different methods for making a print-ready image. Look at some examples of screenprinted projects.
Class Two: Print your fabric!
Burn a screen with your design and print it onto your fabric.
Class Three: Fabric Basket
This sewing project is super easy to make and will help keep your home not only organized but also adorable.
Fabric Basket Supplies (all available for sale at the studio):
• 1/2 yard plain, unprinted quilting cotton or canvas for exterior and handles
• fat 1/4 quilting cotton lining (directional fabrics require a 1/2 yard)
• fat 1/4 or 1/2 yard of heavy weight fusible interfacing, or fusible fleece
• matching polyester thread
*** if you do not want handles for the bin you can use a fat 1/4 for the exterior
Class Fee: $179 + HST
Print + Sew classes are three hours long and run for three weeks at the Bloordale studio.
*All materials are available for purchase at the studio
Printmaking inks and supplies are included.
Silkscreens are available to keep for an additional $35 + HST.
***Class registration fees are non-refundable. If you need to cancel you class, you can use your credit towards a different class date or towards materials from our retail space. There is a $35~ fee for classes cancelled or changed with less than 7 days notice from your registered start date.
